"Be brave enough to be bad at something new." - Jon Acuff
Someone recently said to me that they felt overwhelmed by the mere idea of all the strategy I put into my marketing and had no idea how they could ever do the same.
I'll admit. I DO have a ton of systems and strategies in place, but, here's the thing - I wasn't always this way and if someone had handed me the list of what I do today to the person I was 5 years ago, I would have quit.
I'm a bit of a self-evolutionist. I believe that I am never a finished product, but a work-in-progress in all I do. How I got to where I am now is by starting where we all do - at the beginning, tackling smaller goals to slowly grow my business. Once I accomplished those smaller goals, I would then look into what I could do to better my results, make myself more efficient, and most of all, effective.
Once you have habits and strategies under your belt, you're free to build upon them. But you have to succeed at the basics first. You can’t expect to take on everything right off the bat.
So, anytime you feel frustrated and overwhelmed, just know that even the most accomplished artist was once where you are now. Don't compare yourself to others. Be brave enough to be bad at something new. If you do this, you will master the steps in your own path. Excel at those steps before you worry about the big picture. There is no race. There is only you and the only person you need to feel challenged by is yourself.
